Seize the Opportunity

Thank you to all members that were able to attend the state convention in Cannon Beach.  We were able to accomplish much toward our future and now is the time to get excited and seize the opportunity. We now have the chance to define the Oregon Business and Professional Women as we want it to be. 

Thank you to all for taking the first step in allowing changes to rules to allow structure yet openness. I hope to provide guidance that allows growth and progress. Our resources exist still at the national level. We can maintain our legacy but we must take charge of our organization and make sure that our mission can be continued and built upon.

There is still work to be done and we must pursue the goal. Equality for women is not accomplished. I see it every day. I hear stories of discrepancy and see the lack of numbers of women in high paid positions. Yes some women have succeeded and we are so proud to be a part of the organization that has fought for the right to be what we want to be. Let us not allow complacency to allow us to stop without finishing the goal. We must communicate to all women that we are as one and must continue to fight for the right to have equal pay, equal opportunity and not be stifled by the attitudes that hinder our mission. Please make the time to participate and communicate with your sister members and communities. We will succeed. It may not be tomorrow but we will continue to fight for our rights and challenge our daughters to move further into the scientific and mathematical fields. The opportunities are opening for them and we must encourage them to participate and go further than we can imagine. They are our future and we thank all of the women before us for providing the opportunity that we must now seize.
